Crime Prevention Advice - Asian Gold Jewellery |
||
|
Dear Resident,
Police forces across the UK continue to see burglaries and robberies involving Asian gold jewellery due to its high purity and resale value. Offenders often look for opportunities during weddings, home gatherings, and festival periods. Whilst this is not specific to the Hall Green Constituency it is a timely reminder to provide some advice to protect your property.
To reduce risk: At Home: • Install a high-quality safe (insurance-rated, bolted down). • Close curtains at night and ensure windows/doors are locked. • Don’t leave jewellery boxes in bedrooms; burglars know where to look. • Avoid posting valuables on social media.
When Travelling or Attending Events: • Only take the jewellery you intend to wear. • Keep items concealed when walking to/from venues. • Arrange travel in groups where possible. • Be cautious of people watching you at events, shops, or places of worship.
Record Keeping: • Photograph each item clearly. • Keep receipts, valuations, and serial numbers. In the event of it being stolen this can help identify stolen jewellery at a later date. • Use property-marking tools where possible.
Working together to reduce opportunities for crime helps keep our community safe. If you see suspicious activity, call police on 101 (or 999 in emergencies).
If you require any further advice please feel free to contact us.
Kind regards, Sergeant Bridgewater
