Burglary alert - Lower Willingdon Police are encouraging residents to review home security following a small number of recent burglaries in the Lower Willingdon area. These incidents have mainly involved properties that appeared unoccupied after dark. A few steps to help your home look lived-in: đĄ Use lighting wisely -leave a light on if youâll return after dark, or set timers for lamps and festive decorations. đ» Create background sound - keep a radio or audio device on, or use a timer to play music or talk shows, subtle noise can make your home feel occupied.
đȘ Close curtains or blinds after dark - this prevents anyone from seeing inside and, combined with lighting, gives the impression that someone is home.
đ Always lock doors and windows before leaving - double-check all entry points for peace of mind.
Taking these small measures can help reduce the chance of your property appearing empty. If you witness any suspicious activity in the area, please report to police at the time online or by calling 101 (non-emergency). Always call 999 in an emergency/crime in action. Think again! In 2024 we arrested 1021 people for drug driving.
Our officers use roadside drug wipes and you will be caught if youâre stopped driving under the influence.
This year, weâre catching drug drivers across Sussex, in places you wouldnât expect.
You can report drug driving online. In an emergency always call 999.
Think you wonât get caught? Think again! No one should be abused just for doing their job!
This Christmas; one of our main focuses is supporting retail workers and preventing retail violence, and our aims are to help improve reporting, catch prolific offenders, and work closely with businesses to improve their overall security.
Sussex Police supports the campaign 'ShopKind', a national campaign funded by the Home Office to help tackle the rise in verbal abuse and physical attacks on shopworkers.
The campaign urges the public to be mindful of retail workers' essential role, and emphasises that we should all treat workers and customers with respect, kindness and gratitude.
We support this campaign encouraging the reporting of incidents in the retail sector, alongside operational activity. #ShopKind |
