Homelessness Help - Wardleworth |
||
|
Homelessness is a serious concern in Rochdale, and the winter months make it even more dangerous. Cold weather can lead to severe health risks such as hypothermia and frostbite, and those sleeping rough are especially vulnerable. If you or someone you know is homeless or at risk, help is available locally.
Rochdale Borough Council’s Homelessness Team can assess your situation, provide temporary accommodation, and offer advice to prevent homelessness. Contact them on 0300 303 8548 during office hours or 0300 303 8875 for emergencies out of hours. You can email homelessness@rochdale.gov.uk or visit Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale OL16 1XU. More details are at rochdale.gov.uk/housing/homelessness-prevention.
Hot meals are available from Soup Kitchen Rochdale near the town centre on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, and Army of Kindness serves meals every Thursday evening at St Andrews Church on Entwistle Road. Food banks include Rochdale Foodbank at 14–16 Newgate and Aspire 2 Inspire CIC at Regent Street.
Emergency accommodation includes the STEP Project at 13 Milnrow Road, which offers overnight beds, a light supper, breakfast, and support via referral from the council. Leopold Court provides supported units including emergency beds, and the A Bed Every Night scheme ensures anyone sleeping rough can access a safe place.
Charities such as Petrus Community, Sanctuary Trust, and the Salvation Army offer housing support, outreach, and practical help. Street Support Rochdale connects people to services and allows you to report rough sleepers via Streetlink.
If you see someone sleeping rough, report it through Streetlink or contact the council.
Please share this information. Together we can protect the most vulnerable during these harsh winter months.
Stay safe,
