Two people arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in Stowmarket last month have been bailed.
The assault took place between 5:45am and 6am on Wednesday 19 November. A woman aged in her 30s was out running along a pathway off Iliffe Way when she was approached by an unknown man, who pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
Yesterday, Wednesday 3 December, detectives arrested two people as part of the investigation.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape.
A 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The pair were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have subsequently been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The victim continues to be supported by specialist trained officers and has been assisting detectives with their enquiries. This includes helping to produce an EvoFIT likeness of the suspect, which was released to the public on 26 November.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins in height, of medium build and was wearing a dark woolly beanie hat. He also wore a thick, dark rain jacket and dark trousers, and is reported to have smelled strongly of cigarettes and cannabis.
Detectives would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this investigation to date and continue to appeal for information about the incident.
