I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road safety and road traffic offences including speeding, driving uninsured tax, using mobile phone no seatbelt whilst driving or Drink/drug driving, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. On 28 November, the South Northants Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), supported by Special Constables, PCSOs, and a K9 unit, conducted a proactive operation targeting drug use in pubs and promoting road safety. • Scope: 13 licensed premises visited; engaged with ~385 customers. • Focus: Raising awareness about drink/drug driving and explaining the operation’s purpose. • Community Response: Both licensees and customers praised the initiative for reassurance and timing. PCSO Chris Dudley, who organised the operation, said: “On Friday night, November 28, the team visited 13 licensed premises across the South Northants area and spoke with nearly 400 customers throughout the evening. “Our conversations focused on raising awareness around drink and drug driving and explaining the purpose of the operation, and it was fantastic to bring everyone together to make this operation a success. Ahead of the peak drink and drug drive season, it’s vital that we engage with people and do everything we can to prevent offences.” Sergeant Lorna Clarke added that both licensees and customers welcomed the initiative, praising its timing and the reassurance provided by officers. She said: “Our presence sent a clear message that drugs have no place in our pubs, and the positive response from both licensees and customers was fantastic. It proved to be a highly successful night of engagement and deterrence.” Inspector Johnny Davis-Lyons, who leads neighbourhood policing across South Northants and Daventry, acknowledged the positive teamwork across the NPT, specialist operations and the Special Constabulary to tackle the priorities identified by the local community. He said: “I hope this operation demonstrates the commitment of the South Northants neighbourhood team and colleagues from the wider Force to keeping our communities safe, tackling drug-related harm, and promoting responsible driving—all key priorities set by our local community.” This reinforces NPT’s commitment to community safety, drug harm reduction, and responsible driving—all priorities set by the local community.
