Rise in burglaries |
||
|
Dear residents,
We have recently seen a increase is burglaries being reported to us. Offenders in groups of between three and five are arriving in vehicles where one offender will stay in the vehicle while the others try to enter the properties either by forcing their way through the front doors or smashing the glass to the rear doors and using keys left in the door to get in.
You can help make life very difficult for would be burglars with a few steps: Be sure to keep your car keys in a signal-blocking pouch, and out of sight. If you have one, always secure a steering lock to deter burglars taking your vehicle. Keyless entry vehicles are at risk or relay devices to allow unwanted entry.
Please lock away all jewellery, gold, and designer goods in a secure safe or container if possible.
Check your doors, windows, and porches are locked and secured and remove keys from doors. Where possible please make sure house alarms are set when the property is vacant, or when you go to bed. If you have CCTV or doorbell camera pleas make sure, they are fully functioning and are correctly set up. Installing anti-snap locks at the front and rear of your house will also reduce the chance of your house being targeted as these are off putting to would be intruders.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously or want to report a crime after it’s happened call us on 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
Take Care,
