When Gift Cards Aren't a Gift at All..... |
||
|
Fake Amazon and Apple Gift Cards have been reported to be placed on the stands within Supermarkets.
Reports have been received regarding unknown suspect/s having an Asda Supermarket, placing fake cards on the stands. Customers have purchased these Gifts cards and when having noticed that there is no value when attempting to use them, they have reported the issue. Customers take the gift cards to the tills and pay the value they want to be added but when processed the money it is being diverted elsewhere.
The store has now removed all cards and changed the process for selling further cards, but it is unknown how many cards or the total value that has been diverted. Due to the time of year these reports may increase.
All Asda stores have been made aware. At this stage we have not had any other reports from other retailers that sell the same gift cards or if any other brand of card has been affected.
