Working together to reduce shoplifting in our community.
Shoplifting and thefts from local supermarkets continue to be a challenge across our area, affecting both businesses and the wider community. These incidents not only result in financial loss for retailers but can also impact prices, staff safety, and the overall sense of security for residents. Your local neighbourhood policing team is committed to tackling this issue – and we need your support.
HOW YOU CAN HELP – Report all incidents.
Whether you witness suspicious behaviour, see a crime taking place, or have information about repeat offenders, please report it. Even small pieces of information can help us build a clearer intelligence picture, identify trends, and target patrols effectively.
BE OUR EYES AND EARS.
Local knowledge is invaluable. If something doesn’t look right in or around retails areas, trust your instincts. Your observations could prevent a crime or help us catch those responsible.
SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES.
Engage with staff, encourage them to report incidents promptly, and share any concerns with the neighbourhood team. A strong partnership between the community and retailers makes it harder for offenders to operate.
JOIN OR START A BUSINESS WATCH GROUP.
Business Watch Groups, especially those near retails parks, paly a vital role in promoting vigilance and community cohesion. If you’re interested in joining or starting a group, our team can guide you through the process.
OUR COMMITMENT.
Your local officers continue to carry out high-visibility patrols, work closely with retailers, and take proactive steps to deter and identify offender. But policing alone cannot solve the problem – community support is essential.
TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Reducing thefts is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can protect our local businesses, create a safer environment, and strengthen the sense of community we are all proud of.
Police are urging community to reach out via 101, online reporting at Report | Surrey Police, or by speaking with officers during our Meet the Beat sessions.
