Chiswick NPT update |
||
|
Good morning,
It has been good to see the growth in membership within Chiswick on Met Engage, we now have over 1100 sign ups across the three wards which shows how much the community cares about what is going on, we have the 1st, 2nd and 4th most sign ups across Hounslow Borough. Please continue to invite friends/family/neighbours to sign up.
Over the last month we have been focusing on some of our Ward priorities as set by the Ward Panels and issues raised by residents-
A prolific shoplifter who has a Criminal Behaviour Order banning her from Chiswick was arrested for shoplifting and breaching her CBO. She was Charged and sent to court and will be sentenced in January. Another Shoplifter was arrested and sent to court where he was fined whilst a third was issued a banning notice and given a community resolution. Feedback from most of the shops that we spoke to is that shoplifting is at a much lower level then it was 18 months ago which I have no doubt is in large part due to proactive targeted activity we have been doing. Whilst targeting begging on the High Road a male was identified as wanted for over a year for breach of court order and arrested to be presented to the court. A homeless male causing ASB near the High Road was found to be wanted for failing to appear at court for assault on emergency worker and was arrested to be taken to court. Targeting drug use we have issued two cannabis warnings in Welstead Way Carpark as well a one Cannabis Warning and one Penalty Notice on Turnham Green. We are continuing to target illegal eBikes and seized two on the High Road whilst on an Operation recently. Both riders will be sent to court for driving offences.
Whilst crime levels appear to be lower than last year currently we still have higher levels of vehicle crime then we would like to see. Most reports are where people leave bags in the car with valuables in. We have seen a slight rise in Burglaries which usually happens this time of year but please ensure that windows and doors are kept locked and houses are not left in darkness in the evenings.
We have also had a couple of recent phone snatches by suspects on bikes/eBikes, this is not something that we have really seen recently so could be isolated incidents but please be careful when out and about with your phones in hand and be aware of your surroundings. Any suspicious behaviour of persons on eBikes (ie looking into cars) should be reported via 999.
Many thanks
