I wanted to provide you an update regarding robbery, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. On 30/11/2025 at Halifax Plc, 128-132 Fore Street, Edmonton, Enfield, N18 2XQ Victim was at ATM and put his pin in and was approached by Suspect from behind who pushed victim to the side and took cash from machine and ran from location.
Protect yourself from ATM theft - To prevent robbery at a ATM, stay aware of your surroundings, shield your PIN, and keep your card and cash secure. Go inside a bank to withdraw cash when possible, and put your money and card away before leaving the machine. If approached, ignore the person and don't be distracted while completing your transaction. While at the ATM Be aware of your surroundings: Pay attention to anyone nearby who might be watching you. Avoid being distracted by your phone or other devices. Cover your PIN: Make sure no one can see you as you enter your PIN. Ignore distractions: If someone tries to talk to you, or touches you on the shoulder, ignore them and focus on your transaction. Use inside access: When possible, go inside a bank to use the ATM, as it is often safer than one on the street. Before and after Secure your money and card: Once you have your cash, immediately put it and your card securely into your wallet, purse, or a zipped pocket. Do not count your cash: Avoid counting the money at the ATM. If you need to, do it privately inside the bank, then put the cash away. Put your bag away: Ensure your bag is zipped up and secure before you leave the ATM. Go straight home: Head directly home after withdrawing cash to avoid becoming a target.
