I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. I wanted to share some important information about the free support available from the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV). Their service helps anyone experiencing domestic abuse — and you can also make a third-party referral if you’re worried about a friend, neighbour, or family member.
What NCDV Can Help With (Free of Charge): • Non-Molestation Orders: to stop harassment, threats, intimidation, or unwanted contact. • Occupation Orders: to determine who can live in the home or remove an abusive person. • Prohibited Steps Orders: often used to protect children in situations of risk. • Fast support: in urgent cases, injunctions can often be arranged within 24 hours. • No cost: the emergency legal service is completely free.
Anyone can make a referral: you do not need to be the victim to request help. If you know someone at risk, you can refer safely and confidentially using the NCDV referral link below.
How to Contact NCDV: • 📞 Freephone: 0800 970 2070 • 📱 Text: “NCDV” to 60777 (they will call you back) • 🌐 Third-Party Referral: [https://www.ncdv.org.uk/third-party-injunction-referral/](https://www.ncdv.org.uk/third-party-injunction-referral/) • 🌐 Website: [https://www.ncdv.org.uk](https://www.ncdv.org.uk)
We encourage everyone in the community to save the number, share it, and help support victims of abuse. Standing together against violence, especially violence against women and girls, but not only, makes a real difference. Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
