Police delivering Warm In Winter gift bags for those in need |

Officers in Welwyn Hatfield are delighted to be teaming up again with a local charity to deliver Warm in Winter gift bags to those in need. Over the past few years Hertfordshire Constabulary has joined together with Small Acts of Kindness to deliver the tote bags to vulnerable, older residents. Each bag contains essential items to help keep an older person warm in their home when they are struggling to do so. They include a fleece blanket, thermal hat, socks, gloves, soup, porridge, and a hot drinks pack as well as an information pack about services, support and activities for older people. Residents are encouraged to get in touch if they or somebody they know would benefit from the gift bag. PCSO Casey Phillips, from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This initiative is popular every year and we receive lots of emails from kind residents nominating their neighbours to receive a Warm in Winter gift bag. “Helping vulnerable residents is an important part of neighbourhood policing and many of the recipients are identified through our year-round community engagement work. It’s always a pleasure to knock on their door to surprise them and let them know that we care. “If you, or somebody you know, would benefit from a Warm in Winter gift bag, please get in touch by email at casey.phillips@herts.police.uk or contact Small Acts of Kindness directly at giftbags@smallactsofkindness.co.uk .” Join the ‘Herts Connected’ community messaging service to keep up to date with what’s happening in your local area.
