New Diversion Scheme Launching in Wantage to Support Young People |

{Hello, FIRST_NAME} We’re pleased to confirmed that a new initiative aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour among young people in Wantage will launch on 1st December 2025. The programme, delivered by Sofea, a Didcot-based organisation, will provide one-to-one mentoring for individuals aged 15–21 who reside within the Wantage and Grove Neighbourhood Policing Team (NHPT) area and have come to attention for low-level offences or anti-social behaviour. After a series of focused meetings, the Wantage and Grove Neighbourhood Policing Team were successful in securing funding for the scheme through Sofea, to help reduce anti-social behaviour within the community through positive diversion. Through weekly sessions, mentors will work closely with participants to address the underlying causes of their behaviour. Support will include: Neighbourhood Officer, Jeremy Oldroyd, commented: "This scheme is about giving young people the chance to turn things around. By addressing the real issues behind their behaviour, we can help them find positive paths forward. “It’s a community effort, and we encourage everyone to play a part in making this a success." A spokesperson from SOFEA, added: “With mentoring and hands-on work experience, SOFEA and Thames Valley Police are helping young people build confidence, gain real-life skills, and find direction."
