Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner is set to support projects working to address the root causes of reoffending across Lancashire, utilising money taken from criminals and reinvesting it back into the community. The latest round of grants through Commissioner Clive Grunshaw’s Community Fund opens for applications 1st December, where organisations including charities, voluntary and community organisations, parish and town councils, can apply for up to £5,000 to deliver projects that focus on rehabilitation and reduce reoffending. These can include preventative and diversionary activities, mentoring, practical support and advice. The funding is being provided to deliver schemes that compliment ongoing work by organisations such as probation services, prisons, local policing teams and other partners, and makes a real difference to reducing crime and making Lancashire safer. This follows previous funding rounds where the Community Fund has supported projects that tackled anti-social behaviour as part of the national Safer Streets Summer initiative, alongside schemes to help tackle violence against women and girls. Funding has been provided through a range of funding streams, with £507,670k provided to schemes that help deliver the Commissioner’s priorities, since April this year. Clive Grunshaw, Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire said: “Tackling reoffending, addressing the root causes that lead to cycles of criminality and preventing victims of crime are all vital parts of protecting Lancashire’s communities, preventing offenders from returning into the criminal justice system and keeping the public safe. “Investing in targeted projects across Lancashire empowers local organisations, strengthens public trust, and contributes to safer communities. “It is also another example of how we utilise cash taken from offenders, using it to empower communities and build public confidence. “As Commissioner I will always look for new ways to respond to what the public and our officers are experiencing in our neighbourhoods, and deliver the priorities in my police and crime plan.” Closing date for applications is Monday 12th January 2026 – you can find out more information, eligibility and how to apply at https://www.lancashire-pcc.gov.uk/grant-funding/ | ||
