Weekly Update from your local Bablake NPT Dear Members Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team. What’s Been Happening Gifts Stolen A theft from motor vehicle has been reported off THE SCOTCHILL. Unfortunately, several Christmas gifts were inside which were stolen. Please keep gifts safe once purchased. Avoid leaving presents and other valuables visible in your car. Even if presents are hidden in the boot, thieves often assume vehicles contain valuables in the run up to Christmas. Other vehicle crime has been reported in the vicinity of TAMWORTH ROAD, officers have been patrolling the location. Enquiries are also being carried out and leads followed. Keeping safe when shopping It's getting that time of year when we are out shopping for the festivities. Here's a quick guide to staying safe: Be aware - be mindful of your surroundings, especially when taking cash out at an ATM or when in crowded areas. Secure your belongings - keep bags zipped up and close to your person. Do not leave bags, mobile phones, or laptops unattended in bars and restaurants. Protect your property - do not leave shopping or valuables visible in your car. Consider registering your property on the free Immobilise property register. Beware of online fraud - be cautious of fake websites, phishing emails, and online sellers who may be selling counterfeit goods or not delivering items at all. Report suspicious activity - if you see something that looks out of place or suspicious, report it to an officer or security staff.
Arrested Officers have arrested a prolific shoplifter who repeatedly targeted a store in Holbrooks. The team gathered evidence including CCTV and witness reports for 16 thefts. This arrest and others which have featured in our recent WM Now updates really highlights how the team and retailers across our wards are working together to tackle repeat offenders especially as we head into the festive season where retail crime increases. Shoplifting is not a victimless crime, theft causes distress to staff and financial harm to businesses. Operation Advance
On Tuesday, the team took part in Operation Advance which is a Force‑wide initiative. Officers from numerous policing departments work together for 24 hours of concentrated action along with other supporting agencies tackling road safety. As part of this operation Speed watches were carried out across the Holbrooks, Radford and Bablake wards, the locations of which were raised at recent community meetings. Crime Figures There were eight reported vehicle offences in the past nine days in Bablake. These were theft from motor vehicle offences that took place on TAMWORTH ROAD, WASTE LANE, KERESLEY ROAD and BROWNSHILL GREEN ROAD. Three burglary offences have also been reported being a residential burglary on BASSETT ROAD and two business burglaries on BENNETTS ROAD NORTH and HAWKESMILL LANE.
