Today Thursday, 27 November 2025 Police have carried out a number of dawn raids within the vicinity of Ilford Town Centre and arrested 9 individuals concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
A large scale operation involving police officers from East Area Proactive teams, Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood teams, supported by officers from the Territorial Support Group were involved in the operation this morning. A number of items have been seized including a quantity of what are believed to be class A drugs, cash and phones. This is the result of a proactive investigation, with evidence gathered over a number of months. The individuals remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
This will form part of an ongoing partnership approach to increase community safety and drive down crime, focussing on public health, and areas that are of highest concern to those who live, work and attend school in Ilford. This operation is supported by Redbridge Local Authority, and Council Leader.
DCI Jackie Sweeney from East Area Met Police Proactive Team said “Today’s arrests send a clear message: we will not tolerate drug trafficking and the violence and anti-social behaviour it fuels in our communities. This proactive operation is the result of dedicated work by our officers and partners, and it demonstrates our commitment to tackling the root causes of harm. While nine individuals have been arrested, this is not the end of our efforts—further partnership work will continue to ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe and resilient.”
Superintendent Clare McCarthy leading Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood Teams said “These arrests mark an important step, but our work doesn’t stop here. We are committed to driving forward a problem-solving approach that tackles the underlying issues behind crime and anti-social behaviour. By working closely with our partners and police colleagues, we will continue to focus on long-term solutions that improve safety and quality of life for everyone in our community.”
Councillor Kam Rai, Leader of Redbridge Council said, "Seeing the early-morning raid first hand was a reminder of the determination of the Metropolitan Police and the Council’s community safety team to keep Redbridge safe. I'd like to thank the police for their work leading up to, and during this morning's operation.
We are continuing to invest in community safety in Redbridge. There's more to do, but in partnership with the police, and with local people reporting issues that need attention; together, we can ensure Redbridge remains a safe borough for all of us to call home."
