I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Highways obstructions, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good Afternoon,
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving safety, cleanliness and accessibility in our community, we have conducted an operation targeting non roadworthy and abandoned vehicles across the area. Specifically WALKER STREET, CARLISLE STREET and WALPOLE STREET. These vehicles pose safety risks, obstruct traffic and contribute to environmental hazards.
During this operation, all identified non roadworthy vehicles were inspected and processed in accordance with legal requirements. Owners identified where possible and appropriate enforcement actions have been taken.
Today we worked closely with partner agencies such as DVSA, Parking Services, Community Safety and Road Cleansing Team. DVSA seized a total of 18 vehicles due to no TAX and on the highway. Police seized 5 vehicles collected by AAA for being either abandoned or non roadworthy and a health and safety risk to members of the public. Police also seized one vehicle due to it coming back on police systems as having cloned plates and potentially stolen.
We appreciate the cooperation of residents in helping maintain safer and cleaner streets. If you are aware of abandoned or unsafe vehicles in your area, please report them through 101.
Together we can keep our community safe, tidy and welcoming for everyone.
