I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Noise disturbance, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Your City Centre and Waterfront Neighbourhood Policing team have been made aware of ongoing noise disturbance caused by vehicles (both cars and motorbikes) along SOUTHSIDE STREET being driven in an anti-social manner.
We are taking steps to pay closer attention to this issue.
While noise nuisance is not typically a Police matter, we do not want to ignore the fact that this issue affects residents and business owners very frequently.
The following plan has the aim of disruption and education. It helps us to create a bigger picture, gather intelligence about repeat vehicles, and allows us a designated place to collate the information that is given to us.
A management occurrence has been created, which will act as a 'hub' for reported vehicles deemed to be acting in an anti-social manner to be recorded on.
We are asking for you to take clear videos of vehicles creating noise disturbance on the street, ensuring the vehicles registration plate is in view if possible, and report them to us.
We will then review the footage and decide if it is suitable to be added to the management occurrence, conduct research into the vehicle and its keeper, and then deliver education to the driver about the disturbance they have caused.
As they have been spoken to by Police, we will notify them that their details are now stored on the management occurrence, and if they are caught again having caused any anti-social behaviour using their vehicle, they will be issued official paperwork, which can then lead to their vehicle being seized. Formal paperwork can be issued right away from the first report if officers believe it is needed and suitable.
As mentioned, to begin with this is low level disruption. This will be reviewed depending on how effective the education is.
How can you report? Please use the following reporting link, and quote crime reference number 50250300482 to submit your footage. https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/reportcrime
Note - Do not put yourself in a vulnerable position to try and capture videos. This will most suitably be done through open doors and windows. Do not approach and challenge drivers yourselves. If you have any immediate safety concerns regarding someone's driving and believe they pose a danger, it is important you call 999.
