Officers and Staff Team Up to Support the Walk for Women 2025 |
||
|
As part of the United Nation's 16 Days of Activism campaign, Haringey Council held its third annual Walk for Women on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, bringing together partners, stakeholders, residents, and supports from across the borough to stand united against Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The walk ran from 10.00am to 12.30pm, beginning outside Stroud Green Library and concluding in Finsbury Park. Participants were encouraged to wear purple, symbolising visibility, unity, and solidarity, and the response was fantastic, with a strong and vibrant showing from all who attended. This year, three Safer Neighbourhood Teams, Fortis Green, Stroud Green and Hornsey, joined forces to support the event, demonstrating the continued partnership between policing, the council, and community organisations in tackling VAWG across Haringey. The walk highlighted the innovative, collaborative, and trauma-informed work being carried out across the borough to make women and girls safer. Along the route, attendees heard from a range of council teams and partner organisations about their ongoing efforts, current challenges, and the services available to support those affected by gender-based violence. The event also aligned with White Ribbon Day, the UK’s leading campaign encouraging men and boys to speak up and take an active role in challenging harassment, abuse, and gender inequality. This year’s theme, “We Speak Up”, was reflected in the strong collective voice of participants throughout the walk. The Walk for Women was well attended, with representation from council services, local organisations, police teams, and community supporters. It provided a valuable opportunity for networking, strengthening partnerships, and raising awareness of the vital VAWG services available to Haringey residents and staff. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a powerful show of unity and commitment. Together, we continue our work to create a borough where all women and girls feel safe, supported, and heard.
