Priority 1 To promote safety during the night time economy in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Leicester City Centre nightlife and feel safe whilst doing so. You want to ensure that licensed premises our operating in accordance with their license.
*NOVEMBER UPDATE* -During deployments of operation OVERSEE officers have been conducting licensing visits to ensure premises are operating safely and in line with their license conditions. As a result of recent visits we have have served 2 formal warnings and 2 licences have been revoked following breaches. -Further deployments of Operation Pedalfast into the late night have resulted in 612 illegal vehicles being seized. -We have conducted another drugs dog deployment with 18 positive stop searches, 6 arrested and 2 dealt with for anti-social behaviour. -Dedicated patrols in and around Bath Lane continue to tackle student related ASB during the late evening and NTE.
Priority 2 To reduce and prevent burglary in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -Burglary is a concern for you during the darker nights and you want your City Centre to be safe.
*NOVEMBER UPDATE* -We have made another 3 arrests for burglary with 2 subjects being charged. -A prolific offender has been issued with a 5 year criminal behaviour order. -PCSO's Tim, Hannah, Jane and Donna have been conducting engagement events across the City Centre and supporting local businesses with prevention advice and tools. -The team have been conducting dedicated patrols of hotspot areas to prevent and deter criminality.
Priority 3 To reduce anti-social behaviour and misuse of space at Town Hall Square
YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Town Hall Square and surrounding area but ASB is a concern.
*NOVEMBER UPDATE* -A continued dedicated high visibility presence has been held in this area. -4 arrests for drug related offences, with 3 positive stop searches conducted. -Deployment of the drug dog in this area has been positive helping us achieve the results listed above. -Bike Register events continue to be held in the Town Hall Square. At the events, bikes will be marked with a unique code and added to the national Bike Register database, making it easier for police to reunite stolen bikes with their owners. It can also act as a deterrent to would-be thieves as the bike is permanently marked, making it more difficult to sell. Research suggests cyclists are 83% more likely to have their bike stolen if it is not Bike Register marked.
