Proactive Policing Pays Off in Manchester City Centre! |
||
|
It was another busy afternoon in Manchester City Centre when two of our proactive neighbourhood officers, PC Jon Barnwell and PC Oliver Hunt, spotted a very familiar face wandering through the crowds.
This male offender, well-known to officers and local businesses alike, had been failing to appear for a public order offence and had continued to cause repeated issues across the city, particularly in the vibrant Northern Quarter.
But on this day, his luck ran out.
As soon as he realised that PCs Barnwell and Hunt had clocked him, he made a run for it. What followed was a short, but spirited chase through the city streets. Despite his best attempt to make a quick getaway, the offender didn’t get far. Thanks to quick thinking, sharp eyes, and even sharper footwork, both officers closed in and brought the pursuit to a swift and safe end, detaining the male and placing him under arrest.
The offender’s behaviour in the city centre continues to be taken seriously. We are actively working alongside Manchester City Council’s ASBAT team to explore a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) to prevent further disruption to residents, workers, and visitors.
A word from Police Sergeant Gag Hare “This arrest is a great example of proactive policing in action. PCs Barnwell and Hunt demonstrated excellent awareness and professionalism in quickly identifying and detaining a repeat offender who has been causing ongoing issues in the Northern Quarter. We will continue to work closely with Manchester Council’s ASBAT team to ensure long-term solutions are in place to protect our community and keep the city centre a safe and welcoming place for everyone.” | ||
