Corby drug dealer back behind bars |
||
|
A 24-year-old drug dealer who was caught re-offending after being released on prison licence is back behind bars. Connor Burgess was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court in April 2025, to nearly three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. However, after being eligible to serve the remainder of this sentence in the community, within weeks of his release, Burgess was back before the same court on further drug-related charges. Last month (October 20), Burgess, of Ripley Walk, Corby, was sentenced to five years, seven months and seven days after pleading guilty to the possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (cocaine). However, he denied to two further offences – one of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug (cannabis) and one of acquire/use/possession criminal property – and these were ordered to remain on file. Burgess was arrested on September 6, following the execution of a Section 8 search warrant at his first floor flat on the Kingswood estate, when he was found in the bathroom trying to discard drugs down the toilet. When police officers checked the toilet bowl, they saw a black bag containing suspected Class A drugs in the water, which prompted them to inspect the rest of the system and led to the recovery of multiple individual wraps of drugs from the waste pipes. During the search of the rest of his home, officers seized several mobile phones, cash (£380), a quantity of cannabis and paraphernalia associated with the sale of drugs including digital scales and unused snap bags. Detective Constable Kieran Fowler of CID North said: “Connor Burgess was given the chance to turn his life around following his early release from prison on licence. However, instead of grasping this, he sadly quickly returned to selling drugs. “Burgess clearly has a total disregard for the law and thought he was untouchable, and I am therefore pleased that the sentenced imposed by the courts reflects the seriousness of his repeat offending. “Tackling and preventing drug harm continues to be a priority for us, and we will continue to disrupt and stop people like Burgess preying on some of the most vulnerable members of our communities and bringing misery to our streets.” If you have concerns about drug dealing within your community please report it to us on 101, online at www.northants.police.uk/ro or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
