Driver Reported for Driving a Vehicle in a Dangerous Condition |
||
|
Dear Resident
Last week (Thursday 13 November), officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team were patrolling the Cunningham Ward of St Albans when a vehicle missing a part of its nearside front panel drove past. The vehicle was pulled over on Drakes Drive and the driver spoken to about the damage. The driver was reported for the offence of driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition. A Prohibition Notice was also served on the driver with a requirement not to drive the vehicle until the defects were repaired. This meant the vehicle was left in situ and the driver had to find alternative arrangements. Officers carry out regular proactive patrols of this kind to ensure road users are driving roadworthy vehicles and are driving with all the correct documentation. This Road Safety Awareness Week, we want to highlight the importance of checking your vehicles to ensure they are suitable to be driven on our roads, particularly given the harsher weather which can worsen driving conditions and increase the likelihood of road traffic collisions. Please check for any vehicle defects, ensuring you have functioning headlights, brake lights, and sufficient tyre tread depth for winter conditions.
Are there any streets in your community you'd like similar patrols to be conducted? Are there any specific driving offences which concern you? Let us know directly by replying to this message and we will do our best to address these concerns.
Kind regards, Fiona | ||
