We have released a CCTV image as part of our investigation into a knifepoint robbery at the Morrisons Petrol Station in Ilkeston. A man entered the petrol station on Nottingham Road at about 8.50pm on Friday 14 November and attempted to obtain some cash and an amount of cigarettes but was refused by a member of staff. He returned a few minutes later and was confronted by the shop worker at the door during which he gained entry, pulled out a knife and jumped over the counter. The robber then stole some bottles of spirits, vapes and a charity collection for Macmillan Cancer Support before leaving. The suspect is described as a white man, with a slim build who was about 5ft 10ins tall and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing all black clothing, a face covering and black Nike trainers. Officers investigating the incident have made extensive enquiries and we are now turning to the public for help. We have released a CCTV image of a man dressed in black who we would like to speak to. To see the image please visit:-CCTV image released as part of investigation into knifepoint robbery at Ilkeston petrol station | Derbyshire Constabulary Officers appreciate the picture is not the clearest but we are hoping someone may recognise the items of clothing being worn by the man. In addition, we would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached since the incident by anyone offering to sell them bottles of spirits or vapes. Officers would also like to speak with any motorists who were at the petrol station at the time or driving past and may have recorded the suspect on dash cam footage. We appreciate an incident of this nature may cause concern in the community but we would like to reassure members of the public that teams of dedicated officers are working around the clock on the case. The local Safer Neighbourhood Team have been conducting extra patrols in the town and carrying out knife sweeps, where officers scan parks and recreational spaces for weapons. Our policing teams have also been out and about to speak to business owners and visited school to talk about the dangers of knife crime. Anyone who knows the man in the CCTV image, has dash cam that could help our investigation, or has any other information about the incident, is asked to contact us using one of the methods below and please quote incident number 25*669552: You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website. | ||
