Dear Residents and Local Businesses,
Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:
PATROLS Officers have been carrying out patrols of the Longford areas on foot and in vehicles. We have been paying particular attention to locations that have recently experienced an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour, such as Riley Square and Longford Park.
OP SCEPTRE This week, our focus has been on knife crime. We have conducted retailer visits to discuss their policies and distributed some posters regarding the selling of knives as well as officers conducting weapon sweeps in Longford Park.
VEHICLE CRIME & BURGLARY We have had two reports of burglaries and one attempted burglary this week. We have also had three theft from motor vehicle's this week in the Longford area. However, we would like to remind residents to ensure that they are adequately protecting their vehicles and properties against theft, particularly as the dark nights are upon us.
The first burglary took place at Rowleys Green Lane on 17/11/2025 between 03:00 and 03:30 whereby entry had been gained to a property and a camcorder was stolen from within. We believe the offender may have been disturbed by the homeowner waking in the night. Crime reference 20/447172/25 refers.
We then had a second burglary and an attempted burglary take place on Pearson Avenue overnight between 18:30 on 19/11/2025 and 09:50 on 20/11/2025. In the burglary, the front window was smashed for access to the property, it is unknown whether any items have been taken at this stage, crime reference 20/449649/25. In the attempted burglary, the offenders have smashed a rear door to the property but was disturbed by the resident within the property and therefore entry was not gained, crime reference 20/449261/25. Our enquiries are still ongoing in this area.
The first theft from motor vehicle incident took place at Arena Retail Park between 14:30 and 16:00hrs on 15/11/2025 whereby the front registration plate was stolen from the vehicle, crime reference number 20/446188/25 refers.

HOUSING We are working closely with housing associations such as Citizen, Stonewater, Midland Heart and Orbit to keep them informed of any of their tenants who are repeatedly involved in crime and anti-social behaviour, as it is a breach of their tenancy agreement. We are also carrying out joint visits with the housing officers to some addresses to address concerns and complaints received and will take enforcement action if necessary.

We will be looking at holding a drop-in surgery or crime prevention stall at Arena Retail Park in the run-up to Christmas, but we will confirm dates in due course.
