Police warning following distraction burglary

Good afternoon all,

We are urging residents to be vigilant following a distraction burglary reported on our borders in N16 against an elderly couple.

At around 1600 hours on Thursday 13th November 2025, 3 male suspects entered an address in N16 posing as Thames Water workers.

The elderly couple are safe and well and the investigation is currently ongoing.

Distraction burglars often pretend to be officials to trick their way into your home.

If you are not expecting anyone, or If you are uncertain, it is best practice not to open the door and report anything suspicious.

Please consider telephoning a neighbour or friend nearby to come along and check out the caller before you open the door to them.

If you suspect a bogus caller visited you, even if you did not let them in, please call the police immediately.
