Appeal for witnesses launched after attempted robbery in Derby |
||
|
We are appealing for information following an attempted robbery close to Derby city centre. The incident happened when a man was approached by two others – one on an e-bike and another on foot - in Normanton Road between midnight and 12.10am on Thursday 6 November. The two men demanded the victim handover his phone and wallet and a tussle ensued close to the junction with Melbourne Street. The man on the e-bike then rode off towards the city centre. The victim – a man aged in his 20s – chased the other attacker and they had an interaction close to Douglas Bar on Normanton Road. At this point a taxi was travelling past and the driver reportedly spoke to the men. Both men are described as wearing all black clothing, with face coverings and about 5ft 8ins tall. Officers have made extensive enquiries into the incident and we are now appealing for help from members of the public. Officers would like to speak with the taxi driver who stopped to speak with the men outside Douglas Bar and are appealing for them to please come forward. We are also interested to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dash cam footage which covers the area and time of the incident who has not yet spoken to officers. Anyone with information can contact us using one of the methods below and please quote incident number 25*650364: You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website. | ||
