New Ward Supervisor - Colville |
||
|
I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Ward Police Sergeant for Colville Ward. I joined the team on 3rd November, transferring from the Royal Parks Operational Command Unit, where I oversaw day-to-day policing and major events such as Changing of the Guard, Gun Salutes, Winter Wonderland, and the unique challenges of Speakers’ Corner.
Since arriving, the team and I have been actively addressing local priorities. Recent actions include working with a housing association to secure a property in Arundel Gardens that was being used as a squat, and identifying a prolific offender linked to retail thefts on Portobello Road, whom we are working to trace and arrest. Additionally, several Special Constables supported market patrols on Saturday, resulting in the seizure of three illegally adapted pedal cycles and electric scooters. This initiative will now take place monthly to complement our regular patrols, and I would like to thank them for helping make Colville a safer place.
We are also delivering Operation Martello, a Home Office-funded, intelligence-led initiative that deploys officers to specific locations for set periods to deter and prevent crime. Ladbroke Grove and Portobello Road have been identified as priority areas, meaning you will see additional patrols on Friday evenings and Saturdays, providing both enforcement and visible reassurance to the community. You may have heard the disappointing news that the front counter at Royalty Studios is due to close as part of a wider reduction in police counters across London. While the closure date is not yet confirmed, I want to reassure you that the location will remain as a base for our team, so there will be no reduction in policing presence on the ward.
Our ward priorities remain Violence, Burglary, and Drugs. You can find more details, including crime statistics, team information, and upcoming meetings, on the MPS website via our ward page.
I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future and working together to keep Colville safe.
