Enforcement Activity in Truro’s Semi-Pedestrianised Zones |
||
|
Over the past few months, officers from the Truro Special Constabulary Team, in Partnership with the towns’ Anti Social Behaviour Officer, have been carrying out regular enforcement in the semi-pedestrianised areas of Truro city centre.
These areas are designed to prioritise pedestrian safety and improve the experience for those living, working, and visiting the city. While we have focused initially on education and engagement — including providing words of advice to drivers entering restricted areas — we have also identified and dealt with a range of additional offences whilst carrying out this enforcement.
Offences identified have included: In each case, appropriate enforcement action has been taken, ranging from Traffic Offence Reports to vehicle seizures and arrests where necessary.
We will continue with both enforcement and engagement to ensure the city centre remains a safe environment for everyone and we are grateful to businesses, residents, and visitors who have supported this work by reporting concerns to us.
If you witness any dangerous or unsafe driving in the pedestrianised zones, please report it via 101 or online. In an emergency or where a crime is in progress, always dial 999.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep Truro safe.
**Check your insurance covers the journey that you are making** We have identified an ongoing problem where people do not realise that they are driving without insurance because they do not have the right insurance cover for the journey that they are making, or they assume that because they have fully comprehensive cover they can drive any vehicle…. that's a myth!
If you are driving to or from a single place of work - you'll need an insurance policy to cover commuting If you are carrying out deliveries for a fast food restaurant - you'll need a policy that covers you for hire and reward If you are a tradesperson and using your vehicle to carry tools or equipment for your business - you'll need a policy to cover business use.
