Community Speedwatch in Netley |
||
|
On Tuesday (11 November), PCSO Mihaela Price (South Hedge End) was out supporting our amazing Community Speedwatch team, deterring those who speed and making our roads safer for all. During a one-hour period on Grange Road in Netley, the volunteers checked the speed of 370 vehicles. We’re pleased to report that 355 were adhering to the 30mph limit. Sadly, 15 were not. The top speed recorded was 42mph. In the run-up to Christmas, and beyond, the team will be out and about across the district, ensuring our roads are the safest they can be. *Our volunteers do a brilliant job in educating drivers about the dangers and potential consequences of speeding, but the scheme needs more people to help keep our local roads safe for all. You can apply to join the team here - Community SpeedWatch Application If you would like more information, please email speedwatch@hampshire.police.uk *Community Speedwatch is an educational scheme, and not about enforcement. It is considered a first-tier response to speeding issues. If a problem persists, it can be escalated to tier two, meaning that enforcement can be undertaken by the local neighbourhood policing team.
