Monday 17th November is the start of Sceptre - a nationwide awareness week to tackle knife crime and serious violence. As part of Sceptre, Gwent Police is joining services across the country to carry out seven days of anti-knife crime work, and education in schools, to highlight the devastating impact of knife crime.
We’re opening knife amnesty bins for people to deposit dangerous knives and blades safely and securely.
We’re committed to keeping our communities safe and, thankfully, knife crime remains low for the majority of our communities.
While the reality is that very few people carry knives in our communities, we ask you to report if someone you know is carrying a knife. It could save someone’s life.
Amnesty bin opening times for your local area:
Tuesday 18 November the mobile police station will be at Morrisons in Bargoed (Bargoed Gateway, CF81 8NX) between 3pm and 4pm and at Tesco Stores in Ystrad Mynach (New Road, Hengoed, CF82 7DP) from 4.15pm to 5.15pm.
We’re working with partners to take action in minimising knife crime within our communities. If anyone has any information about individuals involved in knife crime or has any concerns, please contact us via our website, call us on 101 or send a direct message to our Facebook or X social media pages. You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 with information or visit their website. In an emergency, always dial 999.
