Not My Child: A parent's guide to exploitation, knife crime and county lines |
||
|
Exploitation thrives when people don’t know it’s happening or feel they can’t talk about it. We're inviting parents and carers to an event aimed at raising awareness of the dangers and warning signs linked to exploitation, knife crime and county lines. The event will bring together frontline experts, support organisations and people with lived experience to share the realities of exploitation and gang involvement, and provide practical advice and support for anyone concerned their child could be at risk. The event will take place on Wednesday 19 November from 5.45pm to 9.15pm at Cedars Upper School in Leighton Buzzard. Guest speakers will include representatives from the Ivison Trust, a national charity supporting parents whose children have been exploited; Everyone’s Gang, a local youth organisation focused on preventing young people from becoming involved in crime; and a policing expert who specialises in knife crime and the influence of social media on gang activity. There will also be the opportunity to connect with support services and learn about the help available for both young people and their families. The event is free to attend and open to all parents, carers, family members and friends. | ||
