Protect your home from Burglary |
Good morning residents.
Greater Manchester Police is committed to tackling burglary. Please see below for advice on how to secure your home and valuables. Together, we can prevent crime: • Keep doors and windows locked even when you’re at home. Ensure keys are kept away from doors, windows and cat-flaps • Burglaries often occur around religious or cultural festivals, weddings and special occasions • Use a timer switch on lights to make your home look occupied • If you have a burglar alarm, make sure you use it, even if you’re only going out for a short time • Consider using a lockable safe which is British Standard Insurance Approved. It should be anchored to something immovable and fitted with a Limpit alarm. Help police identify stolen items • Photograph valuable items, keep a written description of each one and include them on your insurance policy • Register each item of jewellery at www.immobilise.com • Be an active member of your local Neighbourhood Watch. Reporting • To report a crime, visit www.gmp.police.uk or call 101 • In an emergency, always call 999 • Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
