Gardens Patrol Bears Fruit: Arrests and Safeguarding Success |
||
|
The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team have carried out a proactive series of patrols across the area this week, resulting in multiple arrests and the safeguarding of a vulnerable missing person.
Officers were on patrol across both Monday and Tuesday afternoon, focusing on areas identified through community intelligence and recent crime reports. Across the two days, the team arrested five individuals for a range of offences, including failing to appear in court on existing warrants, handling stolen goods, and drug-related offences. Those arrested are now being dealt with through the criminal justice process.
During Tuesday’s patrol, the team also located a high-risk missing person in Piccadilly Gardens. Officers were able to ensure the individual’s safety and appropriate safeguarding measures were immediately put in place.
Sergeant Jon Wyatt, of the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“These targeted patrols are part of our continued commitment to addressing the issues that matter most to local residents, workers and visitors. We will not tolerate criminal activity in the gardens or surrounding areas, and we will continue to work closely with our partners to keep people safe. The safeguarding of the vulnerable person was a key outcome and highlights the importance of our visible presence in the community.”
The team will continue to carry out regular patrols in Piccadilly Gardens and surrounding areas and encourages the public to report concerns or suspicious activity. Information can be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers, or directly through Greater Manchester Police’s online reporting channels.
