Property Marking Scheme
This event will allow Cricklewood SNT officers to offer a SelectaDNA kit to local trades people. The SelectaDNA kit is a forensic property marking system that uses a unique synthetic DNA solution to invisibly mark valuable items, deterring theft and aiding in their recovery. The kit contains a solution with a unique DNA code, a UV tracer, and microdots, along with warning stickers to act as a deterrent. If property is stolen, it can be identified and returned to its rightful owner by police who use a UV light to see the invisible marking, which is then linked to the owner via a secure database.

Due to the recent raise in tool thefts across our ward, we are offering local traders free SelectaDNA property marking kits to help protect their equipment from theft.

A SelectaDNA kit is a forensic property marking system that uses a unique synthetic DNA solution to invisibly mark valuable items, deterring theft and aiding in their recovery. The kit contains a solution with a unique DNA code, a UV tracer, and microdots, along with warning stickers to act as a deterrent. If property is stolen, it can be identified and returned to its rightful owner by police who use a UV light to see the invisible marking, which is then linked to the owner via a secure database.

How it works

Application: The solution is applied to valuables such as electronics, tools, and machinery.

Invisible Marking: The applied DNA is invisible to the naked eye and almost impossible to remove completely.

Theft Deterrent: The kit comes with warning stickers and posters to be displayed, letting potential thieves know the property is marked and making it a less attractive target.

Recovery: If items are stolen, police can use a UV light to find the DNA code. The code, along with microdots, is registered on a secure database, allowing police to trace the property back to its owner.

What's included

Forensic Solution: A pot of unique DNA solution, which also contains a UV tracer and microdots.

Warning Labels: Tamper-resistant labels for your property and window stickers for your home or office.

Registration: A membership card or online registration to add your details to the Secure Asset Register, linking the DNA code to you as the owner.

Tools: Applicator brushes, UV lights, and posters are often included depending on the kit type.
