Prolific offender arrested |
Today, local police officers were on foot patrol and saw a male who is a prolific offender. He was in breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which stipulated that he was not to enter the BR5 or BR6 postcode areas. When officers intervened they found he was also wanted on a recall to prison, so he was further arrested for this.
A CBO is a court order issued upon conviction of a criminal offence. It is the successor to the ASBO and is a tool for targeting persistent antisocial offenders who also commit criminal offences. They can include prohibitions, positive requirements or both, ranging from a minimum of two years for adults or one year for those under 18, to a maximum of up to three years for those under 18 and potentially indefinitely for adults. Failing to comply with the terms of a CBO is a criminal offence. | ||
