Targeted Patrols Lead to Arrests in Borough Market – Operation Earagrotis |
||
|
On Wednesday 5th November, officers from Southwark Town Centre Team achieved a positive result during proactive patrols in support of Operation Earagrotis, aimed at tackling theft and anti-social behaviour in and around Borough Market.
While on duty, PC Aylott, PC Gorman, PC Seager, and PC Mullin Smith identified a known suspect in the area. The individual was stopped, searched, and subsequently arrested for five separate offences. A second person accompanying the suspect was also stopped but was not found in possession of stolen property and had not been linked to previous incidents.
Later that day, a second suspect—previously circulated in connection with the same offences—was arrested by officers in NW BCU, further strengthening the operation’s impact.
The team has since circulated additional suspects and is planning further arrest enquiries. Officers are also exploring communication links between offenders to identify where stolen property may be going.
CCTV enquiries are ongoing, with support from PCSOs and officers continuing high-visibility patrols in the market area. Feedback from local businesses has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong support for the team’s efforts.
We will continue to provide updates as Operation Earagrotis progresses. | ||
