Officers from the Smiths wood neighbourhood team are continuing to conduct proactive patrols and take preventative measures to tackle vehicle crime, across all Smiths wood, Kingshurst and Castle Bromwich.
Simple Steps to Keep Your Vehicle Safe – Keyless ignition owners should use a Faraday pouch for their fob. All drivers should consider a steering lock, park in well – lit visible areas, lock their vehicle, remove valuables, and ensure windows, sunroof, and wing mirrors are closed/ folded. Unfolded mirrors may signal an unlocked car to thieves.
What has been happening? Good news –
The team have made more important arrests for a variety of issues this week. We attended an address in Smiths Wood following CCTV footage being sent in from Solihull Community Housing of a dog being attacked in a flat block. We arrested the male responsible for Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal. The RSPCA have launched an investigation to see him prosecuted and taken the dog into their care with the view of getting the dog to a loving family. We have arrested a male for three offences of shop theft. We have also arrested a male for Outraging Public Decency due to lewd behaviour in a public space. This has been passed to specialist colleagues trained to deal with sexual offences. Finally, one of Solihull’s most wanted has been arrested for a recall to prison.
We have also continued to proactively patrol the area, achieving nine stop and searches for people causing a nuisance in the local area. Two were for items that cause criminal damage as they had just been seen by us spray painting graffiti on an electricity substation. They have been dealt with appropriately for this offence. The others were for drugs at spots indicated by residents as hotspots for drug use.
