What’s been happening? Good news Last week the team responded to a theft of a vehicle that had just happened in Auckland Drive in Smith's Wood. We attended and launched an initial investigation, which included taking a victim statement, looking at ANPR hits and providing safeguarding advice. We then searched for the vehicle and located it in Kingshurst. This was 59 minutes after the original call came in. We have also continued making arrests including one male who handed himself in after the team had made multiple attempts to arrest him for a common assault that occurred earlier this month. We arrested another male for punching an ex-partner in the mouth while holding his child and then harassing her following this original incident. We arrested a third male for causing over £3000.00 worth of damage to his partner's property. Finally, we have continued targeting shoplifters with another female brought in yesterday. She has now been charged with two shop thefts and is due in court at the end of next month.
Your local PCSO’s attended Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens for a cuppa with a copper on Wednesday 29th October, engaging with visitors and offering crime prevention advice.
The PCSO’s have also been out visiting our most vulnerable residents knocking doors in relation to our Darker Nights Campaign providing residents with crime prevention items.
The team have made more important arrests for a variety of issues this week. We attended an address in Smiths Wood following CCTV footage being sent in from Solihull Community Housing of a dog being attacked in a flat block. We arrested the male responsible for Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal. The RSPCA have launched an investigation to see him prosecuted and taken the dog into their care with the view of getting the dog to a loving family. We have also arrested a male for Outraging Public Decency due to lewd behaviour in a public space. This has been passed to specialist colleagues trained to deal with sexual offences. Finally, one of Solihull’s most wanted has been arrested for a recall to prison.
