Manchester's Christmas Markets 2025 | Manchester's Christmas Markets 2025 | Manchester City Council Inspector Kam Hare from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Our officers have been out all day and have been joined by the late shift teams, giving out crime prevention advice and welcoming visitors to the city centre.” Stay safe and have a fantastic time at the markets! Here are some useful tips to keep your belongings safe. Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Crowded markets are prime spots for opportunistic pickpockets. Stay alert and be mindful of who is around you. Pickpockets often work in teams to distract victims.Secure Bags and Wallets: Use a cross-body bag with secure closures and wear it at the front of your body. Avoid placing wallets or phones in back pockets, as these are easy targets for thieves.Minimise Valuables: Only carry the cash and bank cards you need for your visit. Leave unnecessary valuables, like expensive jewellery or your passport (if not required for ID), securely stored at home or in your hotel safe.Be Cautious with Cash and Cards: When using ATMs or paying at stalls, always shield your PIN number with your hand. Put your cash and cards away safely before leaving the machine or stall area.Safeguard Your Phone: Limit using your phone in large crowds and put it away securely after taking a photo. Back up your phone's data regularly.Never Leave Belongings Unattended: Do not leave bags on the ground, on a table, or unattended in a shopping trolley, even for a moment. Suspicious Activity: Report any incidents to Security Officers or Police Officers.
