LFR Vans Deployed In City Centre

Good afternoon all,

Today the Northern Quarter team has been working alongside special operations teams, with the deployment of Live Facial Recognition Vans in the Piccadilly / Oldham Street area.

These high tech vans have been assisting officers in identifying wanted offenders / missing persons with facial recognition technology. Our team have been working hard today with the help of these vans to locate offenders still wanted.

Given recent issues with anti-social behaviour and nominals of note loitering around the Oldham Street vicinity, especially ahead of the XMAS markets around the city, this has further assisted our team in the detection and prevention of crime in the locality of Oldham Street / Piccadilly Gardens area.

With this, there will be an increase in officers over this coming festive period to try and tackle issues around Oldham Street over the coming months, we several arrests already made by officers for numerous offences and repeat offenders for ASB, aggressive begging, drugs use being removed from the area to ensure those in the NQ have a safe festive period.
