Newhaven Youth Centre event
A huge thank you to Martin, Father of Charlie and founder of Charlie's Promise who held a presentation at Newhaven Youth Centre last week to speak to parents, professionals, police and youngsters about Charlie's story.
Knife crime can have tragic consequences for families, friends and the wider community of all those involved.
Together with partners tackling knife crime is a priority for the police; find out what we are doing to not only tackle, but also raise awareness of; as well as find practical support and advice by visiting our Sussex Police website here.
We also extend a thank you to the Community Safety Partnership who funded a donation to the charity.

Roads policing Peacehaven
Whilst on patrol on Skylark Avenue, Peacehaven on 3rd November, officers were alerted a motorcycle who was riding with a pillion passenger being carried in a dangerous manner.
Officers attempted to stop the bike after sighting a motorcycle matching the description, however the rider made off.
After failing to stop for police, officers tracked down the motorcycle, where checks revealed the vehicle held no tax, MOT or insurance, and the rider was driving whilst only holding a provisional licence; any wonder they didn’t want to stop.
The rider was reported for the traffic offences and will be summonsed to Court and their vehicle was seized under section 165A of the Road Traffic Act.
Lewes Bonfire What a night! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Lewes Bonfire 2025 such a roaring success.
Around 40,000 people came together to celebrate one of Sussex's most iconic events - and thanks to months of careful planning, teamwork across agencies, and the support of the local community, the evening ran safely and smoothly.
Thanks to all the emergency services, transport partners, local authority staff and clean up crew who worked behind the scenes to keep everyone safe and the town running. Your dedication makes this event possible year after year.
We're also grateful to the residents and visitors of Lewes for your co-operation and community spirit.
There were a small number of arrests and some people requiring medical attention, but the overall atmosphere was positive.
As bonfire season continues across Sussex, please remember to attend organised community events wherever possible.

Putting your bike away for the winter? - Keep your bike safe this winter, by taking steps to layer your security
• Keep your bike out of sight when not in use.
• Store it in a secure location, consider bolting it down to a ground anchor, or locking your bike to an immovable object with hardened steel chains or a close shackle lock.
• Using a garage? Consider garage door defenders or upgrade your garage door locks.
• Consider installing motion-activated lights, or use shed/garage alarms, where your bike is secured to deter thieves from taking advance of the darker months.
• Having an alarm or tracker on your bike can be a deterrent to thieves, consider an alarm system with tracking, immobilisation, anti-grab or movement sensors.
• Property mark the parts, by marking as much of your bike as possible will make it more difficult for criminals to sell parts on in the event it is stolen.
Marking property can make it less attractive to steal as it is harder to sell on, it will also help police identify parts and return recovered stolen bikes.
Unfortunately security measures can’t guarantee your bike won’t be stolen but, by using multiple security measures, you can make it harder and less attractive for thieves.
Report online or to 101 (non-emergency), and always to 999 in an emergency / crime in action.
