Number Plate Theft

Dear Residents,

On Saturday 1st November between 9am and 2pm, a set of number plates were stolen from a vehicle on Oaklandsgate, which is located just of Green Lane.

We all know it can be difficult to try and secure your number plates, to prevent them from being stolen. 

Some people prefer to use stickers to secure their numbers plates to their vehicle, as they have smarter a appearance than the standard screws, but bear in mind without screws, plates can easily be removed by criminals with minimal force. 

We recommend securing your number plates with tamper-resistant screws to prevent theft, as stolen plates are often used to disguise other vehicles. These security screws can be purchased from automotive or online retailers, and the police may also hold events where you can get them for free. The most effective type is a one-way screw, which is difficult to remove without specialized tools.
