Officers from the Smiths wood neighbourhood team are continuing to conduct proactive patrols and take preventative measures to tackle vehicle crime, across all Smiths wood, Kingshurst and Castle Bromwich.
Simple Steps to Keep Your Vehicle Safe – Keyless ignition owners should use a Faraday pouch for their fob. All drivers should consider a steering lock, park in well – lit visible areas, lock their vehicle, remove valuables, and ensure windows, sunroof, and wing mirrors are closed/ folded. Unfolded mirrors may signal an unlocked car to thieves.

What has been happening? Good news –
Last week the team responded to a theft of a vehicle that had just happened in Auckland Drive in Smith's Wood. We attended and launched an initial investigation, which included taking a victim statement, looking at ANPR hits and providing safeguarding advice. We then searched for the vehicle and located it in Kingshurst. This was 59 minutes after the original call came in.
We have also continued making arrests including one male who handed himself in after the team had made multiple attempts to arrest him for a common assault that occurred earlier this month. A male arrested for three shop lifting offences. We arrested another male for punching an ex-partner in the mouth while holding his child and then harassing her following this original incident. We arrested a third male for causing over £3000.00 worth of damage to his partner's property.
Finally, we have continued targeting shoplifters with another female brought in yesterday. She has now been charged with two shop thefts and is due in court at the end of next month.
Your local PCSO’s attended Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens for a Cuppa with a Coppa on Wednesday 29th October, engaging with visitors and offering crime prevention advice.
The PCSO’s have also been out visiting our most vulnerable residents knocking doors in relation to our Darker Nights Campaign providing residents with crime prevention items.
A massive thank you to all those that have responded to my previous WM Now message in relation to speeding across Castle Bromwich. The roads that we have already conducted Speed watch on are Water Orton Road, Beechcroft Road, Parkfield Drive and West Avenue. I have noted all the suggested areas and will ensure we conduct a Speed watch in these areas. The dedicated PCSO’s for the two other areas we police of Smiths Wood and Kingshurst, will reaching out to their residents and we will work together to cover all three areas over the next couple of months.
