                 As bonfire night approaches, Staffordshire Police area advising residents to celebrate safely, respectfully, and within the law.   Firework Safety Tips: Only buy fireworks with the CE or UKCA safety markKeep fireworks in a closed metal box, and light them one at a time at arm's length using a taperNever return to a lit firework, even if it hasn't gone offKeep a bucket of water or sand nearby for emergencies  Bonfire Safety: Build bonfires well away from homes, fences, trees, and roadsCheck for wildlife or hedgehogs before lightingNever use petrol, paraffin, or aerosols to start a fireKeep water nearby and make sure the fire is fully out before leaving  It's Illegal To: Set off fireworks in the street, park, or any public placeGive or sell fireworks to anyone under 18Set off fireworks between 11PM and 7AM (midnight on Bonfire Night)Misuse of fireworks can lead to: Fines up to £5,000 and/or six months in prisonAn on-the-spot fine of £90 for using fireworks illegallySeizure of fireworks by PolicePossible criminal record for anti-social behaviour or endangerment  Respect Your Neighbours   Let neighbours know if you plan to have fireworks - especially if they have pets, small children, or vulnerable relatives.   Keep noise to a minimum and follow local curfew times.   Let's make sure everyone enjoys Bonfire Night safely and responsibly.
