Local Community evenets and Vehicle Securty update |
||
|
Good afternoon, from your Local Coldhurst & Westwood Neighbourhood Policing Team. I’ve got some dates of events that are coming up over the next couple of months that we’d like to make you aware of and that you can put in your calendars, and I will also give you an update on the Car Crime situation in the area. First of all, here are the dates of Community events some of our team will be attending: 1st Nov at 10am – Millennium Centre, Featherstall Road North – Community event where several agencies attend to promote their businesses and agencies – We will attend to offer recruitment advice along with advising you on all other Policing matters. 10th Nov at 10am – Barker Street Community Ctr, ( off Eden Street ) – Coffee Morning and a Police and Community Together meeting ( PACT ) where members of the public can call in, gab a coffee / tea and chat with Police and Housing Officer about their concerns. 15th Dec – Christmas Party at Barker Street Community Ctr, Police staff are hoping to attend and speak with local members of the public and celebrate the up-coming Christmas event with the Community Centre staff. (Times to be confirmed) Car crime in the area seems to be still focussed around Large Car park areas such are B & Q, Royal Oldham Hospital & Premier Inn. Vans are being targeted for their tools and equipment and are usually broke into and damaged but not generally stolen and cars are broken into because valuables have been left on show or in the case of some models like Toyota’s and Lexus these are actually being stolen. Quick simple ways to try to not be targeted are without spending too much money are: Ensure the car is locked before you walk away, put all valuables out of sight, use a steering lock, park in a busy part of the car park where members of the public can see what’s going on or next to a CCTV camera where security could monitor and incident.
