π Darker Nights β Keep Your Home and Belongings Safe π
As the clocks go back and the evenings draw in, itβs a good time to think about keeping your home, vehicle and property secure. Longer nights can create opportunities for thieves, but a few simple steps can make all the difference:
β
Leave a light on timer so your home looks occupied β
Keep doors and windows locked, even when youβre in β
Donβt leave valuables on display inside your home or in your car β
Secure bikes, tools and garden equipment in a locked shed or garage β
Use motion sensor lighting, CCTV or video doorbell cameras to deter unwanted visitors. β
Register valuable items (for example, bikes, power tools, jewellery) on www.immobilise.com completely free. It helps police return stolen property. β
Keep keys β especially car keys and house keys out of sight and away from doors and windows. β
Check that garden gates and fences are secure and in good repair.. β
Keep an eye out for neighbours who might be more vulnerable, and report anything suspicious.
If you see something that doesnβt look right, trust your instincts and let us know.
