This afternoon officers held a successful bike marking event outside Northfield Tube station adding bicycles to the National Bike registry and Signing residents up to Met Engage. Thank you to those that attended today. If you were unable to attend this afternoon please look out for posts of details of the next bike marking event. This week there has been an increase in Thefts From Motor Vehicles with recent reports relating to vehicles broken into on WALMER GARDENS W13 , CANTLEY ROAD W7, and CLITHEROW AVENUE W7 where a residential burglary has also taken place. 

Advice:

-Check your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked. 

-Never leave valuable items inside your vehicle. Remove all items from view by taking them with you or putting them in the boot out of sight. Thieves will  look for anything on display. Things like clothes documents or an old bag might not seem like valuables but they could tempt a thief.

- If you have a garage at home, use it. If you don’t try to park in a well-lit, open space.

-install a dash camera to your vehicle to deter thieves from stealing your belongings.

- Burglars take advantage of unlocked doors and windows. Always ensure that your doors and windows are secured when leaving your home.

-Install home CCTV and a doorbell camera to deter thieves and assist with any investigations if necessary.
