Safer Neighbourhood team update |
||
|
Leominster safer Neighbourhood team have had a busy couple of weeks, so we apologise up front about the lengthy message!
Earl Mortimer School Careers event: We were invited to host a stand at the Earl Mortimer School Careers event to promote the different ways of joining the police as an officer, or the many other varied job roles that are carried out by police staff. The students were keen to hear about all the different aspects of the police roles, especially firearms and dog handlers. There was quite a number of extended police family members, who are keen to follow in family footsteps!.
We hosted the Leominster beaver Group at the police station, where we took fingerprints, breathalised and arrested all of the beaver group and put them in cells (we didn't actually shut the doors!). The Beaver group were treated to a very special meet and greet with one of our youngest police dogs (only 14th Months old), who is currently in training to see if he can behave himself long enough to join the rest of the dog section (I will update at Christmas with a full picture if he passes).
We carried out a joint operation with animal welfare and community protection officers from Herefordshire council, stopping agricultural and livestock vehicles to check vehicle and animal documentation. We also looked in vans and picks ups for any rogue trader evidence, such as unlicensed waste or stolen tools etc. We also spoke to a couple of drivers about unsafe loads.
We have also carried out a partnership operation with immigration, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service and licensing officers from Herefordshire Council. The details of this operation will be published by our corporate communications team in due course, but I can say it was successful.
Plus all our usual duties, crimes, reassurance visits, policing surgeries and general patrols.
We have bike safety, be bright be seen coming up on Sunday at Orleton and our Police Academy Sports Star event at Wigmore on the 31st. Look out for us on patrols on the 31st, as we will be dressing one of the cars up in spooktacula theme!
To note, we now have a new facebook account, which is under North Herefordshire Police, please give us a follow!
If you would like raise a concern or comment with the team, please emails us leominster.snt@westmercia.police.uk
