🧡 Community Update: Keeping Filey Safe This Autumn |
||
|
👮 We’re pleased to share that local police officers recently visited Filey Junior School, speaking to over 220 pupils about staying safe during the darker evenings, Halloween, and Bonfire Night. The children were wonderfully engaged and took part in activities designed to help them enjoy the season responsibly.
As we approach Halloween, we’d like to remind our older residents of a few key messages being shared with young people: 🎃 Trick-or-Treating Guidance Children have been advised to only visit homes that are clearly decorated or displaying a “Trick or Treat Welcome” sign. This helps ensure that those who do not wish to take part—especially older or more vulnerable neighbours—are respected.
🚫 Avoiding Anti-Social Behaviour Officers spoke about the importance of kindness and respect. That means no knocking on undecorated doors, no loud or disruptive behaviour, and no misuse of fireworks or other items that could cause distress.
🔥 Bonfire Night Safety Pupils learned about the dangers of fireworks and the importance of attending organised displays rather than lighting their own. This keeps everyone safer and reduces the risk of injury or fire.
We know Halloween and Bonfire Night can be a worrying time for some, especially those living alone. If you’d prefer not to be disturbed, consider placing a polite sign on your door or speaking with a neighbour who can help spread the word.
Let’s continue to look out for one another and make Filey a safe, welcoming place for all generations.
Warm wishes, Your Filey Community Team
